Police have said a driver is “lucky to walk away” from a high speed crash that sent his engine flying 20 feet from the car.

On Saturday, November 29, police responded to reports of a single-car crash near Wigton.
Officers are still investigating, but believe the car left the road at a high speed and crashed into a tree, 10 feet up the trunk.
The car then came to a stop 40 to 50 feet down the road from the crash site, but the car’s engine was ejected another 10 to 20 feet down from the car.

Police have said the driver was “lucky to walk away” as he was checked over at the scene, but escaped without serious injury.
However, he failed a roadside drug wipe for cannabis.
He was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving and possession of cannabis.
