Workington Cricket club announce professional for 2026 season

Workington Cricket club have announced their 2026 professional for the upcoming season.

While the new season feels a long time off as the county is gripped by frost and snow but Workington have something look forward to on these dark nights.

Taking to social media the West Cumbrian team revealed that former Sri Lanka youth international Vishva Chathuranga will be joining.

A spokesperson for the club said: “We are delighted to announce that next season we have signed former Sri Lanka Youth International Vishva Chathuranga, who will operate as our 2026 professional.

“Having spent his last 4 summers in the UK, the left handed top order batsman and off spinner will be looking to build on the impressive record he has in this country.”

“As well as being a valuable asset on the field, Vishva is also a qualified ECB Coach, so expect to see him figure prominently in our community work.

“From all at WCC, we look forward to meeting Vishva and integrating him into our club for what is hopefully a successful 2026.”
