West Lancashire Football League: Whitehaven AFC slump to eleventh defeat of the season

Whitehaven AFC slumped to their eleventh defeat of the season at home to Millom in the Premier Division of the West Lancashire League as Ulverston Rangers lose ground in promotion battle.

Whitehaven AFC slumped to a eleventh defeat of the season as they lost 4-0 at home to Millom on Saturday, November 8.

Haslingden St. Marys moved up to second with a 1-0 win at Coppull United as Lostock St Gerards are up to third with a 4-1 win over Astley annd Buckshaw United while Milnthorpe Corinthians FC draw 0-0 with Rossendale.

The league action takes centre stage on Saturday, November 15, as Eagley head to fourth place Tempest United while Haslingden St. Marys host Burscough Richmond and Lostock St Gerards travel to Blackpool Rovers as the battle for second heats up.

Millom will be wanting to take all the points from Hurst Green while the home team will be wanting to join the fight for second as Poulton host Astley and Buckshaw United and Rossendale head to Coppull United as the pair will be desparate to take all three points to put some distance between them and the bottom two.

Whitehaven AFC head to C.M.B. Sports Club needing to pick up points as they approach the half way mark as Milnthorpe Corinthians are in the same position when they welcome Cleator Moor Celtic.

Division One

Hesketh Bank AFC moved five points clear of Ulverston Rangers on Saturday 8.

Top of the table side Hesketh Bank got the better of Holker Old Boys Reserves with a commanding 7-0 win as Ulverston lost 3-2 at home to Pause United.

Lytham Town continued their upwards climb with a 2-1 victory over Slyne with Hest to move a point behind Ulverston while Kendal County are up to fourth after a 2-2 draw at home to Croston Sports Club as Kendal United moved up to sixth and a point behind with a 1-0 win at Turton.

Askham United and Chipping couldn’t be separated with a 1-1 draw as Crooklands Casuals won 3-1 at Freckleton FC to climb out of the bottom three and drop their hosts into it.

On Saturday 8, Cup football took centre stage as Stoneclough won 1-0 at C.M.B Sports Club as Dalton United went out losing 4-1 at home to Daten FC.

Mill Hill dispatched Carnforth Rangers 3-0 while Langho came through the nerve racking lottery that is a penalty shootout 4-2 after a 1-1 draw at Whalley Range.
