Lancashire Women’s League: Lancaster City Ladies go top of Championship as Penrith AFC lose

As Cup football fever swept the divisions Lancaster City Ladies took their chance to go top of the Championship as Penrith AFC lost.

Premier Division

On Sunday, November 9, Accrington Stanley fired themselves into second with a 9-4 victory over Blackburn Eagles.

In the Cup Penworhtam Town went 5-0 up by half time against Lostock St Gerards and the score stayed the same as Colne FC ran out 4-1 winners at AFC Bolton.

Clubs return to league action on Sunday, November 16, as Accrington Stanley Women look to close the gap further to Wigan Athletic when they host Stanwix Juniors while Colne FC head to Kendal based GT7 Academy Ladies as Whitehaven AFC Ladies travel to Penwortham Town.

Championship

Lancaster City Ladies took over at the top of the table after Penrith AFC suffered a defeat on Sunday 9.

Playing Workington Town Reserves Lancaster took a 3-1 win with goals from Edie Statham, Kayleigh Young and Jody Campbell with Megan Batey on target for Town.

While Penrith AFC slipped to second after a shock 3-2 defeat at home to previously pointless Chipping.

In the Cup Burnley Belvedere got the better of Chorley wining 4-1.

On Sunday 16, Burnley Belvedere have a chance to close the gap to the top two when they head to Burnley United while Chipping will be looking to move up the table as they host Chorley who sit two points ahead of them.

Cumbrian side Workington Town Reserves head to Lostock St Gerards.

Division One North

Cup football was the focus of Division One North teams as Vickerstown ran out 7-0 winners against Carnforth Rangers with an Olivia Thompson double, Lyla Swift, Amelia Jepson, Rebecca Green and Natasha Webster all on target.

Nicole Huck and a double from Eleanor Brench put Kendal Town 3-0 up before Katherine Brown pulled one back for Abbeytown.

An own goal and a Lucy Grehan-Bradley goal gave Kendal a 5-1 win to progress into the next round.

Whitehaven AFC A racked up a 5-0 win at GT7 Academy Reserves with Aarleah Robertson and Destiny Campbell both hit two with one for Hannah Jenns as the West Cumbrian side progressed.

In a reverse of the cup fixture Whitehaven AFC A host GT7 Academy Reserves while Abbeytown head to Dalton United.
