Cumbria’s rugby union continued to battle across the two regional leagues and the county league as they head towards the end of October.
Regional 1 North East
In the Regional 1 North East on Saturday, October 11, Penrith suffered a heavy defeat with a 69-14 loss to top of the table Ilkley while Kendal won 39-22 at home to Sandal.
Heath kept pace with Ilkley with a 38-21 win at home to Blaydon as Harrogate inflicted a one point defeat on Alnwick with a 21-20 victory.
At the bottom Middlesbrough won 7-39 at York as Driffield beat Cleckheaton 34-31.

On Saturday, October 18, Penrith will be looking to take all the points when they host York as Kendal head to Middlesbrough with both sides wanting to move away from the bottom three with a win.
At the top of the table Ilkley travel to Blaydon while Heath make the trip to bottom side Cleckheaton with Alnwick looking to take advantage if either side lose as they take on Sandal as are Harrogate as they host Driffield.
Regional 2 North
Wigton’s struggles in the Regional 2 North continued on Saturday 11, as they slumped to a 57-17 defeat, their fifth of the season, at Morpeth to sit bottom of the table.
Consett put up a fight as they hosted Keswick but the Cumbrian team went on to win 26-30 and climb into third place above Percy Park who lost 20-43 to league leaders Northern.
Tenth placed Guisborough shocked Sunderland as they ran out 24-17 winners as West Hartlepool were 41-24 victors at home to Aspatria as they moved into second place and Upper Eden climbed up the table with a 25-35 win at Durham City.

All of Cumbria’s sides are at home on Saturday 18, third faces second as Keswick host West Hartlepool and Aspatria welcome Durham City.
Upper Eden take on Guisborough as they look to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three while Wigton face a difficult task at home to Northern.
In the leagues other fixtures Morpeth host Consett and Sunderland face Percy Park.
Cumbria League
Five of the seven games scheduled to be played on Saturday 11, went ahead with league leaders Carlisle being awarded a home win over Millom as Cockermouth received the same result at against Egremont.
Hawcoat Park sit undefeated in second after a ferociously fought 17-20 win at third placed Whitehaven while Kirkby Lonsdale are fifth after a 40-6 win over Keswick 2nd.
Penrith 2nd moved a point behind St Benedicts after beating them 41-29 in the highest scoring game of the league as Windermere over came a rebuilding Workington 20-27 and Ambleside recorded their first win of the season with a 31-17 against Creighton.

On Saturday 18, leaders Carlisle welcome Cockermouth as Hawcoat Park head to Workington, will both sides keep their undefeated start to the season.
In the Whitehaven derby St Benedicts host Whitehaven while Windermere take on Ambleside as Egremont will be looking to get their season back on track with a tough home fixture against Penrith 2nd.
Kirkby Lonsdale will make one of their longest trips of the season as they head to Carlisle side Creighton and Keswick 2nd take on Millom.
