Cumbria Police left ‘struggling to understand’ ‘mindless activity’ as cyclist assaulted

Cumbria Police have been left ‘struggling to understand’ ‘mindless activity’ as a cyclist was assaulted.

On Tuesday, September 23, reports about youths throwing mud at cars from Castle Park, Whitehaven were received.

This resulted in a cyclist being hit in the face with mud, causing him to fall from his bike.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “We are struggling to understand the fun in this behaviour?

“It’s only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured due to this mindless activity.”

Officers are in the process of obtaining CCTV from the park and surrounding area with a view to prosecuting those responsible with assault.
