Man seriously injured after incident at Sellafield strike

A man has been left with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle during the industrial action near Sellafield.

At around 8:55am on Wednesday, September 17, police responded to reports of a crash near Sellafield.

The incident involved a vehicle and a pedestrian outside the Calder Gate entrance to Sellafield.

The pedestrian, a man, has been taken to the West Cumberland Hospital with serious injuries.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “Officers will be liaising with the organisers of the industrial action at this location to offer reassurance.”

They also confirmed there is no wider threat to the public.
