Race the Tide 2025 buzz continues as thoughts turn to 2026

A month on from Race the Tide 2025, the buzz around Cumbria’s biggest independent 10K adventure run shows no signs of slowing down.

Just under 300 competitors travelled from across the UK, Europe and even as far as Australia to take part in this unique celebration of endurance, community, and Cumbrian spirit.

Rapidly earning its place alongside big-name challenges like Tough Mudder, Race the Tide offers a distinctly local twist.

Event founder Ewan Frost-Pennington says the aim is simple: “We want to create a world-class challenge that supports our community and showcases Cumbria at its best. Every ticket sold means more visitors experiencing this incredible, relatively undiscovered corner of the Lake District.”

Competitors face wild river crossings, woodland scrambles, castle grounds and panoramic fell views, all wrapped up in a weekend-long festival of food, music and community.

The 2025 edition was the biggest and best yet, featuring more obstacles than ever before to push runners to their limits. Highlights included exclusive access to the castle’s atmospheric Weapons Hall, a lively clothes swap, and a high-energy set from country band Mountain Ash that had spectators and runners alike dancing late into the night.

Saturday night continued with live bands, DJ sets from the Boogie Brothers, and the now-legendary ceilidh, while Sunday brought a slower pace with foraging walks, yoga and Qigong sessions, ensuring the weekend offered something for everyone.

The event also shone a spotlight on local talent and trades.

From scaffolding teams and vendors to marshals, rescue crews, photographers and entertainers, the weekend was made possible thanks to the efforts of the Western Lake District community, which brought both the course and atmosphere to life.

A special thank you goes to talented photographers, Mike Graham and Carlos Reina Photography, who captured the spirit, energy and beauty of the event perfectly.

With Race the Tide continuing to grow in popularity, there is no official date yet for the next event but keep an eye on our social channels, because if this year is anything to go by, it promises to be unmissable.
