A busy opening to the season continued on Sunday, August 31, as teams came through the first month of the season.
Premier Division
Bury FC Women laid down a marker with a commanding 6–1 victory over Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies.
The result not only secured three points but also showcased their attacking depth, with multiple goalscorers making their mark.
Elsewhere, Tranmere Rovers Women brushed aside Curzon Ashton in ruthless fashion, sealing a 5–0 win to keep up the early pace at the top.
AFC Fylde Women kept their unbeaten record intact with a narrow 1–0 triumph over Bolton Wanderers, while Darwen FC Women edged out Crewe Alexandra by the same scoreline in a tight contest.
Meanwhile, there was nothing to separate West Didsbury & Chorlton and FC United of Manchester, who shared the points in a competitive 1–1 draw.
Division One Central
The standout fixture came at Pilkington, where F.C. St. Helens Women overcame the hosts 7–3 in a remarkable ten-goal contest. St. Helens’ clinical finishing ensured they left with all three points despite Pilkington’s persistence.
Ashton Town Ladies also impressed with a dominant 5–0 home win over Mossley Hill Athletic, while Salford City Lionesses produced a strong away performance to beat MSB Woolton 5–1.
Wigan Athletic Ladies were equally ruthless, dismantling Radcliffe FC Women Firsts 6–0 on the road, while Rochdale AFC Women battled to a hard-fought 2–1 victory against Atherton Laburnum Rovers.
Division One South
History was made at Partington Sports Village, where Altrincham FC Women played their first-ever home league fixture.
In front of a supportive crowd, they fought out a 2–2 draw with Chester, ensuring their big day ended with a valuable point.
Runcorn Linnets edging Liverpool Feds Reserves in a seven-goal thriller.
The Linnets battled their way to a 4–3 victory in a pulsating contest, holding off a spirited Feds side to claim all three points.
Elsewhere, AFC Crewe Women produced an impressive away performance, sealing a 3–0 win at Macclesfield.
Nantwich Town matched that scoreline, defeating Manchester Laces 3–0 to strengthen their early-season form.
Wirral Phoenix Women were also in fine goalscoring mood, running out comfortable 4–0 winners against Warrington Town to round off a dominant weekend for the division’s leading sides.
Division One North
Workington Town Women made the biggest statement of the day, dismantling Chorley Women Development in a stunning 9–0 victory.
The hosts were ruthless in front of goal, with Hayley Bracken hitting five, Cassie Donald bagging a hat trick and Niamh Morgan getting her first goal for the club, as they set down an early marker for the season and leaving Chorley with plenty to reflect on.
Elsewhere, Bolton Wanderers Girls also impressed, easing past Morecambe FC Women with a confident 4–1 win.
The Trotters showed their attacking quality throughout, controlling the game and ensuring they start the campaign on the front foot.
It was a similar story for Accrington Stanley Women, who also secured a 4–1 home triumph, this time against Penrith AFC Ladies.
The Stanley side produced a strong second-half performance to pull clear and collect three valuable points.
Meanwhile, Haslingden Ladies & Girls earned a hard-fought 2–0 victory away at Fleetwood Town Wrens Reserves, displaying resilience and discipline to claim a clean sheet and an opening-day win.
