Barrow AFC has announced a new signing as Robin Ham joins the club as the new Club Chaplain.

Robin is a local pastor at St Paul’s Church in Barrow and brings a real heart for the town and its people.

His role is all about being there for players, staff, and supporters, no matter background or beliefs, to offer a listening ear, a bit of support, or just a friendly face and a brew.

Speaking about his appointment, Robin said, “It’s a privilege to be asked to take on this role.

“I’ve loved following The Bluebirds over the last few years and I care about the wider community.

“Of course, football has highs and lows, and everyone in the football community will have their own highs and lows off the pitch too.”

Robin will be a regular face at The SO Legal Stadium attending training, matchdays, and club events.

In addition to serving as a local minister, Robin is a grassroots junior football coach.

General Manager Rickie Wallbank added, “We’re really pleased to welcome Robin to the Club; his warm and grounded approach already fits in well, and we’re confident his presence will be a real support to our players, staff and fans going forward.”

Robin takes over the role from previous chaplain, Jonny Harrison, who stepped down in June 2024.

Nearly 70 of the 92 EFL clubs now have chaplains, with training and a code of practice provided by Sports Chaplaincy UK.
