West Cumbria Bowls Leagues: Workington claim Fours title as Triples league heats up

Workington A have claimed the West Cumbria Fours League title as Maryport sit in pole position to make the Mixed Triples theirs.

The champions of the Fours League have been decided as Workington A took a 7-0 victory at Fitz Park to claim the title on Friday, August 15.

Whitehaven A claimed a 7-0 win at Workington B to hold a two point lead over Cleator Moor who won 5-2 at home to Seaton.

In their final game of the 2025 season Maryport took a 5-2 victory at Vulcan Park.

Heading into the final round on Friday, August 22, it is a battle of the A versus B teams as Workington and Whitehaven end the season at home.

Whitehaven A will be looking for a 7-0 win as Cleator Moor could pip them to second as they host Fitz Park.

Seaton host Workington side Vulcan Park as the pair look to finish the season on a high.

West Cumbria Mixed Triples League

The Knockout Cup finalists have been decided with Workington A facing Seaton.

In the semi-finals Workington A defeated Whitehaven A 5-4 while Seaton defeated Wigton 5-4.

The date and venue for the final are yet to be arranged.

The Mixed Triples league continues to surprise as Cleator Moor held leaders Maryport to a 4-5 win on Tuesday, August 12, while Seaton held second placed Whitehaven A took a 4-5 win.

The two Workington sides continued their battle with both sides recording big wins with Workington A taking a 9-0 victory over Seascale as Workington B beat Harris Park A 8-1.

In the mid-table game Vulcan Park won 5-4 against Cockermouth side Croft.

At the bottom of the table Whitehaven B picked up a 7-2 win over Egremont while Harris Park B lost 9-0 to Wigton.

In two catch up games Seaton lost 6-3 to Workington B while Wigton recorded an 8-1 win over Whitehaven B.

In the penultimate round on Tuesday, August 19, Maryport head to Whitehaven A in a game that could decide the destination of the title.

Workington A host Whitehaven B with both sides fighting for points at opposite ends of the table as Vulcan Park head to Cockermouth to face Harris Park A while Cleator Moor welcome Harris Park B and Croft take on Seascale in Cockermouth.

Egremont play Seaton in their final home game of the season.
