Five Cockermouth School students have sealed places at University of Oxford as students received their 2025 A Level results.
The Cockermouth School have had a very successful year for their Sixth Form students who have achieved the best set of A Level results the school has ever seen.
With twins Alex and Toby Cooper to read Mathematics and Chemistry respectively while Alex Tzelpsis-Jones and Danny Winterbottom will read Physics, and Jack Milburn will read History at University of Oxford.
Headteacher, Mr Richard King, said: “These exceptional results mean that the overwhelming majority of students now have the keys to go on to their anticipated destinations in September.

“These grades reflect their hard work and dedication over many years.
“We congratulate all of our students on their achievements today and wish them all every success in the future.
“Congratulations go to all of our students who have performed exceptionally well; these results build again on the consistently high level of achievement every year at Cockermouth School.”
At the school 26 students achieved all A*/A grades, covering the full range of subjects that they offer.
This includes 10 students who achieved A* grades in all of their subjects.
There were many exceptional performances by the students with the school particular congratulations go to Alex Cooper, Toby Cooper, Samuel Graham, Jenni Howarth, Cecilia Kenyon, Alexandros Tzelepis-Jones and Danny Winterbottom who each achieved 4 A* grades.

Mr King carried on saying: “We are delighted with the successes of all of our students, the overwhelming majority of whom have secured their first choice places at their university of choice or on a highly competitive apprenticeship programme and armed forces.
“These include university places at a range of institutions to study subjects such as Physiotherapy at Liverpool, Motorsport Engineering at Coventry, Musical Theatre at LMA, Primary Education at Northumbria, and German and Spanish at York.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the hardworking and dedicated staff who have taught students to enable them to achieve the best exam results they could.
“Much has also been done to support students both academically and pastorally, and we are very grateful for the continued support that we have received from parents who worked closely with us to ensure the very best for our students.
“We wish all of our students the very best in their future careers.”
