Carlisle teenager dies and another airlifted to hospital after one-car crash

A teenager has died and another was airlifted to hospital after a car crash near Wigton.

Shortly after 7pm on Saturday, August 9, police responded to reports of a one-car crash on the B5305 near Hesket Newmarket.

The crash involved a red Vauxhall Astra.

The passenger, an 18-year-old man from Carlisle, died at the scene.

The driver, also an 18-year-old man from Carlisle, was airlifted to hospital. 

His condition was described as serious but stable.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or any information to come forward.
