Carlisle MP invites residents to share views on maternity and neo-natal services at community meeting

Carlisle MP, Julie Minns, is inviting local residents to share their views and experiences of maternity and neo-natal services at a special community meeting.

The meeting, on Tuesday, August 5, is being organised to feed into the Government’s national investigation into NHS maternity and neonatal services.

The investigation, announced by Health Secretary, Wes Streeting in June, is undertaking a system-wide look at maternity and neonatal care to create a clear, national set of actions to improve care across every NHS maternity service.

Julie Minns MP said “Every woman, baby and family has the right to expect safe and effective maternity care, wherever they are.

“This meeting gives local people the opportunity to share their experiences and help me build a picture of how effective and safe maternity care in our area is, that I can then feed into the national review of maternity services.”

Residents who would like to attend to share their views and experiences of maternity services and neo-natal care are invited to register online here or by email to julie.minns.casework@parliament.uk or by telephoning 01228 479 441, and include their name, address and contact details.

The meeting will take place in Carlisle on Tuesday, August 5, at 6pm.

Further details will be confirmed to attendees ahead of the meeting.

The ‘Community Matters’ meeting is one of a series of meetings the Carlisle MP organises on a range of issues concerning local residents and follows a meeting at the start of July on local bus services.
