The modular units that will be home to the Cumberland Infirmary new Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) have been delivered and lifted into place.
The units going next to the A&E department, began arriving on giant lorries on Monday with the final delivery on Friday, July 11.

Ground preparation for the site began earlier this year, requiring a temporary road closure that has since been reopened and rerouted to accommodate construction work.
Preparations will now begin to fit out the UTC with the necessary medical equipment and fittings.
Once complete, the £12 million UTC project, which commenced earlier this year, will feature a single-storey building equipped with 12 consultation rooms, staff and clinical storage areas, patient waiting spaces, and a rooftop plant room.

Constructed by MTX Contracts Ltd using modern building techniques, the new facility promises a faster, greener, safer, and more cost-effective alternative to traditional construction methods.
