Workington Comets has provided an update following the latest statement from British Speedway Promoters Ltd regarding the sides current suspension.

A spokesperson for Workington Comets said: “We can confirm that the club remains in ongoing discussions with all relevant parties to address the administrative matters that led to the initial suspension of our membership on June 27.

“The BSPA have today (July 4) extended the suspension for a further seven days, and we remain fully committed to reaching a positive outcome that will allow us to move forward.

“We would like to sincerely thank our loyal supporters, sponsors, and riders for their incredible patience and understanding during what is undoubtedly a challenging time.

“We will continue to work tirelessly behind the scenes and will provide further updates as soon as possible.

“Thank you for your ongoing support.”

The Workington Comets returned after ceasing to compete in 2018, the Comets left Derwent Park moving across the river to the GT Tyres Arena in 2022.
