Whitehaven Police Station received some special visitors as the Cumbria Rungwe Community Link brought a group of Tanzanians to West Cumbria.
On Thursday, June 26, the Cumbria Rungwe Community Link or CRCL, brought their Tanzanian visitors to Whitehaven Police Station as part of their two weeks stay in West Cumbria.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “We enjoyed meeting the group and discussing the various differences between policing in the UK compared to Tanzania.
“This is a great initiative that we have supported over previous years and look forward to future visits.”
The Tanzanian students and leaders along with their Cumbrian hosts were treated to a tour of the old custody cell block, a look around our police vehicles and also had the opportunity to take their own fingerprints.
Dog handler PC Thomas attended with his police dogs Luna and Toby, to meet the group and give a little demonstration of their search skills.

The CRCL work with schools in Cumbria to fundraise and organise a two weeks stay in either Cumbria or Rungwe, Tanzania.
This year a group of students and leaders have come over from Rungwe where they will visit Primary and Secondary Schools, Muncaster Castle, Whitehaven Police Station and PEAK fitness.
They will have a farewell celebration at The Haven Club on 6pm (18:00) Saturday, July 5.
