West Cumbria Bowls Leagues: Maryport move into pole position in the triples league as Workington move clear

Maryport have moved into top spot of the Triples league as a partial league schedule was played while Workington A moved two games clear at the top of the Fours league.

The league has reached its the half way point on Friday, June 20, as Workington A beat Workington B 5-2 to move 12 points clear as Cleator Moor won 5-2 at Fitz Park.

Seaton picked up a 7-0 win at Vulcan Park while Whitehaven A and Whitehaven B will play their match at a later date.

On Friday, June 27, Whitehaven B head to Workington A as Cleator Moor welcome Workington B.

Whitehaven A face Vulcan Park as Fitz Park head to Maryport.

All matches are a 6:30pm (18:30) start.

West Cumbria Mixed Triples League

There was a partial league scheduled played on Tuesday, June 13, as Maryport moved top of the table with an 8-1 win over Harris Park A.

Whitehaven B closed the gap on those above them with a 7-2 win against Seascale while Vulcan Park edged a close game 5-4 at home to Seaton and Egremont lost their home game 5-4 to Cleator Moor.

In the final Cockermouth derby Croft beat Harris Park B 7-2.

The league continues on Tuesday, June 24, when Maryport head to Whitehaven B as Workington B travel to Seaton and Whitehaven A head to Croft.

Workington A welcome Egremont while Seascale take on Harris Park B as Harris Park A welcome Cleator Moor and Wigton travel to Vulcan Park.

Cumbria county teams were in action in three competitions with both the men’s and women’s teams involved.

On Saturday, June 21, the women’s Johns Trophy team won 19-3 at home to Northumberland to leave them with a chance of qualifying for the National Finals.In the other game Yorkshire beat Durham 18-4 to sit top of the table.

The men’s Alsop team continued their unbeaten start to the 2025 campaign with a 18-4 win at Durham to sit top while Yorkshire won 19-3 at Lancashire.

The Middleton Cup team won 16-6 at Northumberland to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the National Finals as Durham lost 12-10 to Lancashire.
