Members of Cockermouth Mountain Rescue have visited the memorial and plaque for two team members who died 56 years ago in a tragic accident.
Some of the team members went up to Gatesgarth at the weekend and laid a wreath at the memorial.

Flowers were also laid at the crag, where there is a memorial plaque.
Some family members of the deceased still visit the memorial every year.

There are team members, both active and honorary who were present that day, and who still remember the accident.
Monday, June 16, marks the 56th anniversary of a tragic accident that befell the team in 1969.
The accident occurred while the Team was practicing a new horizontal stretcher lower on Low Crag, Buttermere when a large boulder came loose causing a rockslide.
Team Leader Jock Thomson (49) was killed instantly when he was struck by the falling boulder and Michael Stephenson (28) died in West Cumberland Hospital the next day.
Acting casualty Rex Usher suffered cracked ribs after being buried by the rockslide with Kathryn Walton, who broke her pelvis and arm; Jim Coyles also broke his arm and cracked ribs in the incident.
Other members of the ten person team suffered other injuries.
Cockermouth Mountain Rescue is a volunteer organisation that relies on members of the public to run.
