St Mary’s Hospice is to enhance and expand its therapy services across the Furness and South Lakes region after receiving a grant of almost £4,000 from The Medicash Foundation.
The funding has allowed St Mary’s to purchase a comprehensive suite of resources supporting three key therapeutic approaches: Wellbeing and Memory Boxes, No Barriers Here (arts-based advanced care planning), and Complementary Therapies.
These carefully selected tools and materials will play a vital role in tailoring therapy to meet the diverse and individual needs of patients.

“We are incredibly grateful to The Medicash Foundation for their support,” said Lynsey Lawson, Compassionate Communities Lead.
“This funding helps us offer meaningful and personalised therapies that support patients’ emotional and physical wellbeing, especially at the most vulnerable times in their lives.”
The new resources are now being used by the therapies team and are already making a difference to patients and families. This grant reinforces St Mary’s continued commitment to delivering compassionate, holistic care and ensuring that every patient’s journey is met with dignity, creativity, and respect.
