Penrith Fire Station performed an usual rescue when the call came in ‘sheep stuck on a two-storey roof’.
The animal rescue of this type was a first for Penrith with the information received said: “sheep stuck on a two-storey roof”.
On arrival the fire crew found one sheep and three lambs stuck on a roof.

Using ladders and reaching poles, and along with a local farmer who came to assist, the sheep were safely brought down and returned them to the field they’d come from.
In a busy day for the Fire and Rescue service they had two other calls to attend, a building fire that turned out to be a false alarm phoned in with good intent and they were placed on standby to assist with fire cover around Carlisle while the Carlisle crews were in attendance at another job.
