Newton Rigg’s Head of Horticulture along with a selection of independent and specialist nurseries are returning to Dalemain for the 2025 Plant Fair.
The Fair on Sunday, June 8, brings together a hand-picked collection of the finest nurseries in the North including Garth Cottage Herbs, Primrose Bank Nursery and East of Eden.

A wonderful day out for everyone, from green fingered experts to gardening novices there will be plenty for people to see.
Owner Jane Hasell-Mccosh will be on hand at the Dalemain Plant Stall by the tearoom to discuss the garden.
Shelagh Todd, Head of the School of Horticulture, for Newton Rigg College based at Lowther Castle will be in attendance, giving advice on how to make your garden bloom.
There will be information about the Garden Day Courses at Dalemain, a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes and learn how this award-winning garden changes through the seasons.

One of the current highlights in the garden is the famous Meconopsis Dalemain, Himalayan Blue Poppies, which are in full bloom, as well as the array of old-fashioned roses and new structures and planting around the garden including the Children’s Garden, full of animal plants.
Look out for the Zebra Grass near the Elephants Ears and Solomons Seal by the Catmint.

The topiary dragon in the low garden is always a highlight for children as well.
The Mansion will be open for visitors to explore and learn about the architecture and history of this family home.
Guided Tours can be booked online in advance.
The Barn Tearoom will be serving a range of hot and cold homemade food, or you can enjoy a cream tea on the lawn with our delicious homemade scones.
Of course no visit to Dalemain is complete without marmalade.
The Double Gold Winner from the World Marmalade Awards will be on sale, with 50p from each jar going to Hospice Care.
As well as a selection of Artisan marmalades from award-winning producers.
Entry to the Plant Fair is £5, with a special discounted price available for the House and Gardens.
