In the West Cumbria Leagues Whitehaven continue to lead the Triples as Workington are in ominous form in the Fours.
Cumbria’s Balcomb Trophy and Walker Cup teams were in action.
West Cumbria Fours League
It has an ominous feeling in the Fours League on Friday, May 16, as Workington A completed a fourth 7-0 win at Vulcan Park with Chris Williams quartet scoring a full 8 shot end.
Second placed Fitz Park took it to the last end to clinch a 5-2 win against Seaton, with the visitors holding a two shot lead the Keswick four scored three to take victory in the rink and game.
Third and fourth faced off in a titanic battle with three ends deciding the result as Whitehaven A won 6-1 against Cleator Moor.
Playing on Thursday, May 15, Whitehaven B lost 7-0 at Maryport.
All eyes will be on Workington A and Whitehaven A on Friday, May 23, while Cleator Moor host Maryport.
Seaton host Workington B and Vulcan Park travel to Whitehaven B.
Fitz Park are sitting this round out.

West Cumbria Mixed Triples League
Whitehaven A are enjoying life in the Triples League after a 6-3 win at Wigton on Tuesday, May 13, while Seascale beat Vulcan Park 7-2 as Maryport lost 4-5 Workington A.
It was a good round for the Harris Park sides as the team A won 7-2 at Whitehaven B as Harris Park B won 7-2 at home to Egremont.
It was a difficult round for Cleator Moor who lost 9-0 to Workington B and Croft came away from Seaton with a 5-4 win.
Whitehaven A will be looking to continue their strong form on Tuesday, May 20, as they host Cleator Moor as Seascale welcome Workington B.
Maryport head to Croft, Workington A host Harris Park B and Harris Park A play Seaton as the three sides sit in joint third.
Wigton make the trip to Egremont and Vulcan Park take on Whitehaven B.

Cumbria County Matches
Cumbria’s Balcomb team headed over to Redcar on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday 18 in a bid to make the semi-finals and a trip to Royal Lemington Spa for the National Finals.
The Balcomb has taken on a new format for this season with teams of ten competing in singles, pairs, triples and fours in a round-robin with Northern rivals Durham, Lancashire, Northumberland and Yorkshire in Cumbria’s group.
Playing in the first round Cumbria took on Durham with 3 points on offer for each discipline win and 12 for a overall shots victory, a 24 points were available in each game.
Cumbria split the disciplines with M Irwin winning the Singles (21-16) and S Bowman, C Hodgson, P Wallace and J Baird the Fours (19-12) while S Cook and S Farish lost the Pairs (9-25) and K Harrison, I Gallagher and S Airey the Triples (15-20), the overall shots went to Durham (64-73) meaning the Cumbrians lost 18-6.
In the other match Yorkshire beat Northumberland 21-3.
Missing the next round Yorkshire beat Durham 21-3 as Northumberland won 21-3 against Lancashire.
In the final game on Saturday Cumbria won three of the disciplines with M Irwin winning the Singles (21-18), S Cook and S Farish the Pairs (16-11) and S Bowman, C Hodgson, P Wallace and J Baird the Fours (15-9) while K Harrison, I Gallagher and S Airey lost in the Triples (6-17) and took the overall by three shot (58-55) to win 21-3, finishing the day in third on 24 points.
In the first game on Sunday Cumbria did not start well against Lancashire with M Irwin losing the Singles (9-21), K Harrison, I Gallagher and S Airey the Triples (9-23) and S Bowman, C Hodgson, P Wallace and J Baird the Fours (13-14) while S Cook and S Farish won the Pairs (16-13) as Lancashire took the overall (71-47) to win 21-3.
Durham finished their campaign off with a 21-3 defeat to Northumberland.
Heading into the final game against Northumberland, Cumbria needed to win and hope Lancashire beat Yorkshire.
Lancashire did their part beating Yorkshire 21-3 meaning either Cumbria or Northmunberland would be heading to the National Finals.
Cumbria won two disciplines with M Irwin winning the Singles (21-12) and K Harrison, I Gallagher and S Airey the Triples (19-13) while S Cook and S Farish lost the Pairs (14-20) and S Bowman, C Hodgson, P Wallace and J Baird the Fours (11-22) meaning Northumberland would represent the North at the National Finals, they also took the overall by 2 shots (65-67) winning the game 18-6 and leaving Cumbria in fifth.

Cumbria’s Women were in Walker Cup action at Gosforth, Northumberland against Durham, Lancashire and hosts Northumberland.

In their first game Cumbria lost 24-0 with T Smithham in the Singles (16-21), M Haney and N Bowe in the Pairs (10-18), S Devlin, L Sowethby and L Metcalfe in the Triples (11-18) and K Westwood, A Hayton, P Peile and J Bell in the Fours (7-18) and Durham took the overall (44-75) to claim all the points.
Lancashire lost 12-18 to Northumberland before being beaten 24-0 by Durham.
Cumbria shared the points with Lancashire with T Smitham losing the Singles (8-21) and S Devlin, L Sowethby and L Metcalfe in the Triples (19-20) while M Haney and N Bowe won in the Pairs (19-8) and so did C Bannister, A Hayton, A Creighton and J Bell in the Fours (13-10) to leave the overall equal on 59-59.
In the final game of the day Cumbria won the Singles with K Westwood (21-15), the Pairs with M Haney and N Bowe (18-13) and the Fours with C Bannister, A Hayton, P Peile and J Bell (28-2) as S Devlin/A Firth, L Sowethby and L Metcalfe lost the Triples (18-21) taking the overall (85-51) the Cumbrians beat Northumberland 21-3 to finish second.
