Carlisle United: Head of Recruitment leaves position

Carlisle United has confirmed that Greg Abbott has left his position as Head of Recruitment.

In an announcement on Monday, May 19, via social media the Blues confirmed that Abbott has left the club.

A spokesperson for the Cumbrians said: “The club would like to thank him for all his work and commitment, and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Abbott managed the club between 2008 and 2013 having previously stepped up as caretaker in 2007 and then in 2008 before getting the job full time.

Joining United in 2006 as Assistant Manager to Neil McDonald and then John Ward with the pair guiding the side to the Playoffs where they were beaten by Leeds United.

He was sacked in 2013 before returning as Head of Recruitment in 2022.
