Cumbria Police has charged a man following a report of him making threats to other people while in possession of a knife.

Officers quickly responded to the report at 3:46pm (15:46) on May 15, on Linden Terrace.

One in the scene, Hassan Khamis, 27, of Linden Terrace, Carlisle was arrested and has been charged with threatening a person with a blade in a public place.

The community will continue to see officers in the area to offer reassurance to the community.

Officers are aware of video footage being circulated on social media and would ask people not to share further so as not impact criminal proceedings.

He has been remanded to appear at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, May 17.
