Cumbria Police has made an arrest following reports a man was in the street making threats to other people while in possession of a knife.

Officers received a report on Thursday, May 15, of a disturbance at Linden Terrace at 3.46pm (15:46).

Police were deployed and were on the scene within minutes before making the arrest with nobody injured.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “Extra officers are being deployed to the area this evening to offer reassurance to the community.

“Officers are aware of video footage being circulated on social media and would ask people not to share further so as not impact any potential criminal proceedings.”

The arrested man remains in custody.
