Fresh from launching eggs off their roof for Easter, Muncaster Castle will be crowning Sausage Fest champions this bank holiday.
The Sausage Festival promises something for everyone from families, foodies, and dog lovers alike and it is all set against the spectacular backdrop of Muncaster’s gardens and castle.
Over the bank holiday weekend, May 3-5, Muncaster Castle hosts its most sizzling Sausage Festival yet with sausage racing, sausage tossing, sausage dog competitions, and, of course, sausage tasting.
It’s a weekend of fun, food, and a little bit of healthy and hilarious competition.

The highlight of the weekend is the crowning of the Sausage Champion, where six makers compete to be named best sausage of the festival.
Returning are defending champions The Cumbrian Boerewors Co. where they will be challenged by Wasdale Mill, Melville Tyson, Yardies Jamaican Street Food, Bewleys Sausage Ltd and Istanbul’s Kitchen.

For those looking for plant-based bites, Dosa Chaska will be serving up delicious vegan options.

One of the event organisers Ewan Frost Pennington said: “Muncaster Sausage Festival is about celebrating Cumberland culture and traditions, both old and new.
“We hope people will still be sausage racing in a hundred year time too.”

Expect big laughs and even bigger sausage drama as competitors race in what promises to be a real crowd-pleaser.
