The two teams from Penrith AFC Ladies and Whitehaven AFC Ladies faced each other in Andrea Buggy Women’s League as Newlaithes Ladies head to the top of the table.

In the battle of the Penrith AFC Ladies teams it was a 3-0 win for the Titans against the Rubies with Sadie Roberts, Abi Heaton and Maddy Ferguson finding the back of the net.

Two goals from Nicola Waugh helped Newlaithes beat Carlisle United Ladies Development 1-2 to go top of the table.

Defender and vice-captain Evie Atkinson said: “As a team we felt it was a very quiet and slow start into our second game of the season.

“We struggled to find our flow during the game and had a few loose balls that we could’ve kept possession of better.

“However, after some better passing and communication we did manage to create some good chances and come away with the +3 points.

“We can take this game as a learning curve and move onto playing some better football for the upcoming matches.”

Whitehaven AFC Ladies Yellows racked up a 10-1 win over the Blues with two goals for Megan Sharples, one from Eden Stainton and Ella Beadsmoore and a hat trick for Ashleigh Mcallister along with three own goals.

Vickerstown Ladies picked up their first points of the season with a 2-1 win at home to Stanwix Hornets as Workington Town Wildcats were awarded the three points against Xtreme Ladies FC.

There are just the four matches with Whitehaven AFC Ladies Blue hosting Workington Town Wildcats on Tuesday, April 29.

Whitehaven AFC Ladies Yellow welcome Xtreme Ladies FC on Wednesday, April 30, as Newlaithes host Vickerstown Ladies and Penrith AFC Ladies Rubies face Stanwix Hornets.

All matches are a 7:00pm (19:00) kickoff.
