Workington AFC have parted ways with manager Mark Fell

Workington AFC has confirmed that they have parted ways with manager Mark Fell.

The two parties have mutually agreed to part company with Assistant Graham Lancashire also departing the club.

The club has started the process of appointing a new manager immediately.

A statement issued from the board said: “It has been a difficult decision for all parties to make and certainly not one anybody envisaged taking at this stage of the season.

“We’d like to place on record our thanks to Mark and Graham and their team for all their hard work during their time with the club and we wish them well in the future.

“The clubs absolute number one priority is maintaining our Step 3 status.

“Brian Dawson and Billy Redden will take training tonight and will oversee the final 3 games of the season as we bid to secure the points we need.”

Workington sit in seventeenth in the Northern Premier League Premier Division on 46 points, three points above the relegation zone, with three games to go.

The clubs fate is still in their own hands with victory over Prescot Cables at Borough Park on Saturday, April 19, followed up with another win at Morpeth Town on Monday 21 could leave the Reds just needing to avoid defeat at home to Ashton United on Saturday 26, to stay up as Matlock Town can only finish on 52.
