The first Workington Pride festival has been postponed, with organisers citing “background issues” as the reason.
The first Pride festival for the West Cumbrian was set to go ahead on Saturday, April 26, at Vulcan’s Park in Workington.
However, just ten days before the big day, organisers announced it had been postponed.
In a social media post organisers, Over The Rainbow Support CIC, cited “background issues” as the reason behind the decision, but say they are planning to hold the event on a later date.
A spokesperson for the festival said: It is with a heavy heart we have to announce that the first Workington Pride that was due to happen on Saturday 26th April will be postponed.
“Our team have been busy working away to resolve some of the background issues, but unfortunately this has been unsuccessful.
“As a result we have found ourselves in a position where we are unable to go ahead as planned and will be postponing the event (although we hope to be able to confirm a new date for the event later this year).”
