Hospice at Home West Cumbria are excited to announce their very first in memory sunflower display, which will see the grounds of St Bees Priory filled with 1,000 handcrafted ironwork sunflowers.
The ‘Sea of Sunflowers’ display will take place from Saturday 2 to Sunday, August 17, and whether visiting in memory of a loved one or as part of a family day out on the Cumbrian coast, the display is open to all with free entry.

Holly Harkness, Community Fundraising Co-ordinator, said: “We are delighted to be holding this special event, a first for our charity which will create a space for our supporters to reflect and remember loved ones we have lost and the patients in our care.
“We chose the sunflower because it is the universal symbol of hospice care, representing light, loyalty and love.
“We welcome you to come along and enjoy the beautiful, bright display, which we hope will allow people to find out more about what we do, and provide a special opportunity to support our cause and help us continue to make a difference.”
The sunflowers are available to purchase and dedicate in memory of a loved one, and your dedication will be there for you to visit throughout the display.
You can make your dedication on the charity’s website here or by visiting one of their retail shops in Workington and Cockermouth, or their Therapy and Information Centre in Workington, where you can collect a dedication card.
Once the display has come to an end, supporters will be able to keep their sunflower to remember their loved one and this special event.
Hospice at Home West Cumbria provides high quality and end of life care to people living in West Cumbria, and all money raised from this event will go towards the care and support given to patients and their families going through the most difficult of times in our local community.
