Cumbria Police has arrested a man after they crashed with a fire engine on the A595 at Calder Bridge, drove away from the scene and were over the drink drive limited.

The man was tracked down on Friday, April 11, to a property he was renting where he was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

As well as drink driving after providing a reading more than double the limit.

The driver a man in his 20s from the Hartlepool area was released on bail to allow time for further enquiries to be made.

This is the one of the incidents covered by Operation Spotlight that targets the Fatal Four – speeding, using a mobile phone at the wheel, not wearing a seatbelt and driving under the influence of drink and/or drugs.
