A man has been jailed for 18 years for raping and assaulting three women in north Cumbria over a three-year period.
Between 2021 and 2024 Brian Watson, 22, from Carlisle, committed several serious offences including rape and non-fatal strangulation.

The offences occurred in October 2021, June 2022 and July 2024 against three victims in north Cumbria.
Watson was initially charged and remanded for offences against two victims.
When an update was issued by Cumbria Police of his charges a third victim came forward.
The 22-year-old was charged and, following a trial at Carlisle Crown Court in February, was found guilty of or four offences of rape, non-fatal strangulation and assault by penetration.
On Friday, April 11, Watson was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Josh Daniel of Cumberland CID said: “It is understandably extremely difficult for victims of rape to talk about what happened to them, but by coming forward it has enabled us to bring Watson to justice and empowered other victims to report.
“I would encourage anyone who has been victim to a sexual offence to contact police so that our officers can investigate, and you will be supported.
“Support is available, and the Constabulary works closely with trusted partner agencies to provide the appropriate support which is tailored to an individual’s circumstances.”
