Emergency services are helping as firefighters continue to work tirelessly in response to an ongoing fire involving scrap cars at a property on Stainton Road, Carlisle.

Seven crews are currently in attendance from stations across the north of the county and Cumbria Police have now closed the road near the scene to support the firefighters’ efforts.

A spokesperson for the response said: “We would like to extend our thanks to the public for following our advice and avoiding the area during this incident, which helps our crews to get on with their job.

“If you live or work in the area, we encourage you to keep your windows and doors closed for now.”
