Cumbria Sports Awards returned to a live ceremony with the counties sports stars and supporters gathering to celebrate.
The Cumbria Sports Awards 2025 were held at Energus, Workington on Friday, February 28, with hundreds turning out to celebrate all the very best of sporting talent across the county.

Sponsored by Fibrus, a full fibre broadband company committed to supporting Cumbrian grassroots sports, the Cumbria Sports Awards 2025 were brought back to the county in a ‘live’ format for the first time in a number of years.
The Sports Personality of the Year went to Paralympian Anna Nicholson who won bronze at the Paris Paralympic Games.

Cumbria’s youth were recognised with Kell ARL and Cumberland referee was the winner of the Young Achiever Award while Tara Nel Allan claimed the Rising Star Award for her Judo performances.
Barrow Raiders Amanda Wilkinson was named Coach of the Year with Dick Whitworth’s half century of service to Cumbrian orienteering winning the Service to Sport Award.
It was not all individual awards as St Martin and St Mary Church of England School were the Active Education Award winner, Gillford Park Wildcats the Community Club Award and Barrow Raiders & Advantage! the Community Project Award.
The Special Achievement Award went to Frankie McMillan who has raised money for charity while promoting the outdoors.

As well as category winners, two special awards were given out on the evening.
The Big Build Project at Keswick Rugby Club was awarded the The Future Foundation Award honouring efforts that have been made to create opportunities for future generations through the community led project for a new club house.
The night was finished with Whitehaven born rugby league star Kyle Amor being given the Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of his super league career, the contribution he has made to promote the sport of rugby league in the county and the work he did last year returning to his home town club of Whitehaven as coach at the end of the 2024 season.
