One child has died and another being treated after a crash at Cumbria rugby club

One child has died and another being treated by paramedics after a crash at Kendal Rugby Union Football Club.

At around 4:58pm on Wednesday, march 5, police and emergency services were called following a report of a crash involving a car and two children.

The incident occurred on a pitch at Kendal Rugby Union Football Club on Shap Road.

Cumbria Police has confirmed one of the children involved in the crash died.

The second child involved in this collision is being treated by paramedics.

Immediate family members of both respective children have been informed, Cumbria Police said.

Specialist investigators are at the scene and the area has been cordoned off as initial investigation enquiries take place.

The car involved was a black BMW i40.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police are treating this collision as an isolated incident and there is no suggestion at this time that this is terror-related.
