Carlisle United: Club Confirm First Team Coach Has Left

Carlisle United has confirmed that first-team coach Ian Watson has left the club.

Watson arrived at Brunton Park in September from MK Dons and has assisted with the transition to a new head coach during the last two weeks.

Sporting director Rob Clarkson said: “We’d like to thank Ian for his hard work during his time here and wish him well in the future.

“There are currently no plans for any further staff changes.”

Fans have greeted the news with positively hoping that new Manager Mark Hughes could be staying at the club after signing a rolling contract earlier in the month.

Hughes first home game ended in a 0-0 draw against Colchester United on Saturday, February 15, after a 2-1 defeat at Grimsby and a 1-0 defeat at Newport County.

The Cumbrians will be looking to pick up their first win under the Manchester United legend on Saturday, February 22, when they host Gillingham before a trip to Barrow on Thursday 27.
