A player from Carlisle’s Cumbria Indoor Bowling club has helped lead England Under 25s to victory in the British Isles International Series.
Elly McCubbin was selected for her second series and headed to Aberdeen on Saturday, February 8, and Sunday 9 as England took on hosts Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

Leading her quartet McCubbin and the other three rinks won their first game 114-53 against Wales before they beat Ireland 113-55.
Hosts Scotland beat Ireland 104-56 in their first game before winning 113-43 against Wales to set up a winner takes all final game on Sunday against England.
Things were going England’s way at the 5 end mark as they were winning 27-12 and they were still leading at the 10 end mark 44-34 though Scotland had closed the gap.
Scotland were leading 65-64 at the 15 end point before the match swung back to England as they retook the lead 79-68 three ends later.
The match swung again as Scotland scored 14 shots to England’s 4 as they fell 1 shot short as England won the series with an 83-82 victory to claim the Acle Trophy.
Cumbria Indoor Bowling Club extended their congratulations to McCubbin saying: “Congratulations to Cumbria IBC player Elly McCubbin on winning the BIIBC Under 25 series with England at the weekend.
“Playing in her second series, Elly successfully navigated her rink to 3 wins from 3 to help England lift the trophy.”
Sophie McIntyre from Ireland took the Jane Type Salver Player of the Series trophy.
