Cumbria Police has launched an investigation after an assault on a woman in Kendal.

Enquiries are ongoing after a woman, in her late teens, was assaulted by the suspension bridge between Mintsfeet and Dockray Industrial Estate at about 6.15pm to 6.20pm on Sunday, January 26.

The woman was not seriously hurt but has been left shaken by the assault.

Police Officers are currently seeking a white man, described as being in his early twenties, between 5ft 5ins and 6ft tall, who had ginger hair, a short beard and he was wearing dark clothing.

He left after the assault was spotted by a passer-by.

In a statement Cumbria Police said: “Officers are aware the attack has caused concern in the community but can assure people the investigation is a top priority and all lines of enquiry are being pursued.

“If anyone has any information they should call 101 – referring to log 173 of January 26.”
