Unable to move and in quite severe conditions they called for a rescue with the Keswick Mountain Rescue team approaching up a stormy and snowy Scales Fell.

North West Air Ambulance were able to land close by and passers by helped with a stretcher carry from the summit to the helicopter whilst the team continued to approach due to the possibility that the helicopter could not take off in the changing conditions.

Fortunately the weather improved and in a clear spell the helicopter was able to launch taking the casualty to hospital.
