Cumbria Snow: Sellafield Ltd Advises All Employees Who Can Work From Home Should After Severe Weather

Sellafield Ltd employees are being advised to work from home, if they are able to, following the snowfall across the county.

In a statement all employees who can work from home have been advised to on Monday, January 6.

Owing to severe weather conditions, operations at Sellafield are only being carried out in the 24/7 operating facilities.

The statement said: This is a precautionary step which allows us to continue to safely operate in the worsening weather conditions this evening.

“We have also sent some people home early so that they could travel before the weather conditions worsened.

“All employees who can work from home (Monday 6th January) are advised to do so.

“If you can’t work from home, please attend work as normal, provided it is safe to do so.”

All apprentices based at off-site locations, including Energus, Gen2 CAMS and Lakes College, are also advised to work from home.

The statement continued: “For apprentices currently on rotation in on-site placements, please follow the above guidance, and only attend site if safe to do so.

“Note – all commuter bus timetables have been confirmed as running as normal on Monday, 6th January 2025.

“Updates will be provided here, on the site shift managers alert system and on the employee area of our website if the situation changes.”

The company also confirmed there are currently no safety or security issues associated with this issue.
