Cumbria Snow: Roads And Businesses Closed As Snow Covers Parts Of The Region

The expected snow fell across most of Cumbria with fall reported in Carlisle to Keswick.

Cumberland and Westmorland and Furness Council’s gritting teams have been working hard through the night to do what they can to mitigate the impact but this has lead to some roads closing.

Cumbria Police advise drivers to:

  • Consider if your journey is absolutely necessary – don’t let curiosity or hindsight place you or us at risk unnecessarily.
  • If you do decide to travel – ensure you are prepared should you end up stranded. Warm clothing, fully charged phone and something to eat.
  • It always good to speak to others who may have travelled recently but please DO NOT base your assessment for travel on the local community Facebook page. This does not take account of your own ability, nor that of your vehicle!
  • Bear in mind that the weather is constantly evolving. You may complete your outward journey but have you checked the forecast for your return?

If you come across any issues you can report it on 101 or 999.
