Wasdale Mountain Rescue Called Out As Man Breaks Leg In Whitehaven Cemetery

Wasdale Mountain Rescue received their first call out of 2025 after a man fall and sustained a broken leg.

The man was visiting a cemetery in Whitehaven on Thursday, January 2, North West Ambulance Service team were on scene but needed some help for the transfer to the ambulance.

A limited callout was made by Wasdale Mountain Rescue with some local team members attended directly with others ready at base if further team equipment or people were needed.

However, the extra help at base was not needed and the transfer to the ambulance was completed quickly under the direction of North West Ambulance Service.

Wasdale Mountain Rescue had a record year for call outs in 2024 with 168 call outs with the volunteers relying on donations to keep them able to respond.
