Hospice at Home West Cumbria will be launching a new bereavement café in Cleator Moor.
From January 2025 the new bereavement café will be an addition to the two bereavement groups that the charity currently provides in Whitehaven and Cockermouth, offering a supportive space for individuals dealing with the loss of a loved one.

Claire Jenkinson, Family and Bereavement Services Team Leader, said: “We understand how isolating grief can be and we hope that these bereavement cafes will provide a place for individuals to find comfort, share stories and gain strength from one another. Grief is a personal journey, but it doesn’t have to be faced alone.”
These informal gatherings aim to provide comfort and companionship for those navigating the challenging journey of grief, offering a welcoming environment where individuals can share their experiences and find support from others who understand.
The bereavement cafes are designed to offer both emotional and practical support, with trained volunteers on hand to provide guidance and help people connect with others in similar situations.
The first bereavement café in Cleator Moor will take place at St John’s in the Hall from January 2025, and are open to anyone who has experienced loss, regardless of whether they have received hospice care.
