Seascale’s much-loved chippy, SALT Fish & Chips, is celebrating having been recognised as a finalist in the 2024 Peter Hill Award.
The West Cumbrian chippy is joined by Frydays, Kendal, Cumbria; Catch, Porthleven, Cornwall; Sea Blue Fisheries, Clowne, Sheffield; The Anchor, Bexley, Kent; and The Friary, Inverness, Scotland
Announcing the finalists of The Peter Hill Award 2024, Ryan Baker, Sales Manager, Middleton Foods says: “Huge congratulations to SALT Fish & Chips on being recognised as one of this year’s finalists.
“We launched The Peter Hill Award last year in memory of our great friend and CEO, Peter Hill and following its tremendous success, we decided to bring it back – even bigger than before.
“We have received a fantastic number of entries, and we are delighted to continue recognising more newcomers to the industry, encourage new talent, promote quality and excellence and give something back to the trade.”

The Winner and Runners-Up of The Peter Hill Award 2024 will be announced by the end of November, following the next stage in judging, a personal visit from Nikki Williams, Field Sales Manager, KFE.
Middleton Foods wanted to keep their great friend Peter’s memory alive and The Peter Hill Award was created and it reflects Peter’s passion for his beloved fish and chip industry, a true legacy to Peter.

The Winner will receive a money-can’t-buy set of prizes, worth over £15,000 which includes £1,000 worth of Middleton Foods stock; design of their own, ‘own label’ bespoke batter mix; two places at the KFE School of Frying Excellence; two places on the NFFF Fish Frying course; 1-1 ForkedUptraining with Calum Richardson, for 3 months; two tickets to the Fish & Chip Shop of the Year Awards 2025 (with hotel accommodation and travel expenses); a years’ support from Middleton Foods very own Batter Boys and additional support for National Fish and Chip Day 2025.
Each of the Runners-Up will win two places at the KFE School of Frying Excellence and £300 worth of Middleton Foods stock.
