Four Cumbria based indoor bowers have been selected for England trials as the English Indoor Bowling Association announced the Men’s and Women’s trial squads.
The trials take place on November 30 and December 1 with Carlisle side Cumbria Indoor having had four members selected.
In the Men’s squad are Stuart Irwin and Mark Dawes.
Mark Dawes moved to the Cumbria club after his previous club Blackpool Newton Hall closed in 2020 and has four World titles to his name with victory in the singles (2018, 2021) and Pairs (2018, 2021).
Aspatria bowler Stuart Irwin made his World Bowls debut in 2018 having won through in the Open Pairs with Kevin Harrison.
He returned in 2021 playing in the Singles and Pairs where he reached the semifinals with Jack Bird.
As an outdoor bowler Irwin has won the National Triples title in 2022 and represented England.
If successful the duo will head to Llanelli, Wales on Thursday, March 13 to Saturday 15 for the SNR International Series.

In the Women’s squad Elly McCubbin will be taking part in both the Under 25s and Open Age squads.
McCubbin has represented England Under 25s in the International series in 2023 and has been selected for trials for both Women’s teams.
The Women also head to Llanelli, Wales for the SNR International Series on Friday, March, 7 to Sunday 9.

Cumbria Indoor Bowling Club have been successful on the national stage winning the Denny Cup nine times and runners up twice and Egham Cup three times.
The club have also won the Men’s Singles, twice won the Men’s Pairs and Triples, four times Four champions and twice won the Under 25 Singles and were runners up once.
The club have progress to the Regional semifinals of this year’s Denny Cup after beating South Shields Vipers.
