In what Keswick Mountain Rescue have described as ‘a bit out of the ordinary’ they guided Cumbria Police to a possible hand grenade on Catbells.
The call came in on Friday, October 25, when a walker found what he believed was an hand grenade on the side of Catbells.

He called Cumbria Police who dispatched two officers and asked Keswick Mountain Rescue team to escort the officers to the location given.
Details of the object were recorded by the police officers who then passed the information on to the relevant authorities who subsequently dealt with the matter.
As a side note, and in the line of duty, the officers managed to claim Catbells as their first Wainright.
