Phoenix Enterprise Centre Appoint Two To Their Board of Volunteer Directors

Phoenix Enterprise Centre have appointed two new members to their Board of Volunteer Directors.

Paul Wood and Claire Louise Chapman join the Community Interest Company that was established in 1985 to promote economic regeneration and support individuals in overcoming employment barriers in the former Copeland borough.

“Our mission is to revitalise our town and instil civic pride in our community,” said Joanne Crowe, Executive Director of Phoenix Enterprise Centre.

“With dedicated individuals on board, we can work towards achieving this goal.”

The pair will be sharing their skills and proven expertise to further future proof the organisation and bring outside involvement in to support the business’s ethos for regeneration and community activities. 

Joining as Digital Strategy Lead Paul brings a vast experience in managing organisational change, driving business improvements, ensuring customer service excellence and developing and delivering cutting-edge digital strategies.

Paul’s career spans over 30 years in both the private and public sectors. At Centrica, under the British Gas brand, he held various senior roles before transitioning to local government, where he made significant impacts at both Winchester City Council and Allerdale Borough Council.

Joining Allerdale Borough Council in 2015, Paul spearheaded business transformation and service improvement initiatives, eventually leading the council as Chief Executive.

He successfully guided the organisation through local government reorganisation, overseeing the smooth transition from a district to unitary authority structure.

Paul’s expertise will help navigate the fast-evolving digital landscape, ensuring the company stays at the forefront of innovation.

Claire Louise Chapman joins as Social Value Consultant and Social Impact Practitioner.

The Managing Director of The Shared Value Business, a renowned social value consultancy, Claire Louise brings a strong background in social enterprise management and fundraising.

Focusing on strengthening and expanding relationships with corporate funders and grant-making bodies, her expertise will be invaluable as the company continues to foster meaningful partnerships that benefit both people and places.

The next chapter for the organisation will see the regeneration and reinstatement of another historic building for commercial use as part of the Cleator Moor Town Deal.

The Phoenix Enterprise Centre provides low-cost managed workspace, advice and guidance services, and collaborates with partner agencies to combat financial hardship in the community.
