Lakes College has been celebrating their students success at its annual graduation ceremony.

The graduation ceremony marks the success and achievements of students in higher education as learners graduated from programmes in areas as varied as nuclear, engineering, science, human resources and childcare.

Chris Nattress, principal at Lakes College, hosted the event and congratulated all graduates throughout the evening.

He said: “Your hard work and dedication doesn’t go unnoticed here at Lakes, and we are thrilled to be able to celebrate your success alongside your family and loved ones — congratulations to all on behalf of all of the Lakes College staff.”

Professor Jill Stewart, director of the institute of engineering, computing and advanced manufacturing at the University of Cumbria, was in attendance as a guest speaker and touched on her own education and career journey.

Paul Fairclough, Dean of Higher Education at Lakes College, presented the graduation of students, inviting each student up to the stage where they were handed their scroll by guest speaker Professor Jill Stewart.

Paul Fairclough added: “All of our students have worked very hard to achieve their qualification and the graduation event is an
excellent opportunity for them to share their success with family, friends and the academic teams who have supported them throughout their journey. “A very high percentage of our higher education learners progress into excellent careers and even higher education qualifications, which reflects the relevance and the quality of the courses, so congratulations to all.”

Student speaker Kate Morton, who was graduating from her Foundation Degree in Decommissioning and Waste Management, delivered the annual student’s speech.

Later in the evening, individual learners were recognised for their personal and unique accomplishments in both the academic achievement award and the endeavour award.
