Demounters in Egremont has announced that they are closing as the property goes up for auction.

The well known local hardware business announced on Monday, September 30, that they were closing after several years in business.

Taking to social media the company spokesperson said: “It is with great sadness that we are closing down.

“Thank you to everyone for your loyal support over the last few years.”

Formerly known as Pellymounters, Demounters carried on providing an Aladdins Cave for DIY enthusiasts with everything from gardening tools to kitchen ware available.

The store has not set a date for its closure but is currently running a closing down sale with 50 percent off.

The property has also been listed on Auction House Cumbria to be sold on October 24, with a guide price of £50,000 plus fees.

It is described as a “substantial mixed property” with a large shop unit on the ground floor with storage or workshop space and residential accommodation on the upper floors which have been used as holiday lets.
